BIO
"Sowmika Rao (she/her), MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician and an Asst. Professor of Medicine. Before joining MSU Internal Medicine in 2020, she did her residency training at MSU. She obtained her medical degree from MNR Medical College in India.
Dr. Rao's clinical work combines outpatient primary care practice clinic for adults, and attending an inpatient resident teaching service at Sparrow Hospital. Her focus is in preventative medicine, diabetes and hypertension management. She is also involved in teaching early clinical experience and clinical preceptorship for students from MSU's College of Human Medicine.
Dr. Rao’s research interests include lupus and inflammatory arthritis in the field of Rheumatology. Her interests outside of medicine include travel and spending time with her family. She is fluent in the Indian languages of Hindi and Telugu."
