BIO

Dr. Dwamena is a master at using effective communication skills to harness the therapeutic effects of the provider-patient relationship and a leader in teaching others to do the same. She has been principal investigator or co-investigator of several grants including an RO1 from the National Institutes of Mental Health and she has been and author of over 60 papers, chapters and abstracts on health services research and the topic of healthcare communication. She has served on multiple national committees including the Institute of Medicine Committee on Gulf War Syndromes. As an Executive Committee and Board member of AACH, she focused on securing a stimulating, inclusive, and innovative organization that continues to nurture clinicians, teachers, researchers, and patients who are committed to effective communication in healthcare; and developing the next generation of leaders in the field.
