Dr. Finger comes to MSU (remotely) from Troy, New York, where she has been an editor and consultant for biomedical grants and manuscripts since 2011, initially with the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and, since 2013, for her own consulting business. She is experienced in working with both faculty at all levels on clinical, basic, and translational research proposals targeting a broad range of governmental and nongovernmental agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Defense, and the American Heart Association (AHA), among many others. Before that, she was an Assistant Professor of Biology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she performed research funded by the AHA and NSF. She received a PhD in Cell Biology from Yale University and did postdoctoral work as a Fellow of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Fund at Sloan-Kettering Institute and at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her focus at MSU is to work with faculty in the Department of Medicine to maximize the competitiveness of their grant proposals through editing and grantsmanship.
