2015 Scholarly Activities Highlighted

Ade Olomu, M.D., M.S. received the Peter Reizenstein Award for the best paper, "Is Quality Improvement Sustainable? Findings of the American College of Cardiology’s Guidelines Applied in Practice." published in the International Journal for Quality in Health Care.

Michigan State University College of Human Medicine is proud to be part of the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium. Together, Big Ten cancer centers support the work of 2,600 cancer researchers, care for more than 50,000 new cancer patients each year, and enroll 20,000 patient volunteers on cancer clinical trials.  

Robert C. Smith, M.D. was awarded the University Distinguished Faculty 2015 Award.

Reda Girgis, M.D. was promoted to Professor effective 7-1-2015.

MaryAnn Tran, M.D. was promoted to Associate Professor of Medicine effective 7-1-2015.

Saleh Aldasouqi, M.D. presented a poster, "Diabetes Detection in the Dental Office" at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists meeting May, 2015

Francesca Dwamena, M.D. was elected to serve as Treasurer of the 2015 American Academy on Communication in Healthcare Board of Directors.

Ved V. Gossain, M.D. was elected to serve as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) for 2015-2017.

Ved V. Gossain, M.D. was elected to the International Medical Graduates Governing Council of the American Medical Association.

Michael H. Zaroukian, M.D. professor was elected the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) North American Board Chair-Elect effective July 2015 and also received the HIMSS Michigan Chapter Leadership Award: “In recognition of his national work on ONC FACA Workgroups, service as HIMSS North America Board Chair-elect, and support for MI HIMSS”

Michael H. Zaroukian, MD, has received the AMIA Leadership Award from the American Medical Informatics Association for advancing AMIA's efforts in improving the use of EHRs.

Gary Ferenchick, MD (CHM ’84), professor, Department of Medicine, is co-editor of the book “The Color Atlas of Internal Medicine.”

Elahé Crockett, PHD, associate professor, Department of Medicine, has received an honorable mention for the Building Bridges and Spanning Boundaries Award: Innovations in Research and Research Education award by AAMC.
