Division of Cardiology

Cardiology is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the heart. The Cardiology Division at Michigan State University in the College of Human Medicine, Department of Medicine, provides a variety of premium high quality outpatient services at the Clinical Center on campus, to hundreds of Mid-Michigan residents.

These services include consultations, non-invasive cardiology testing, stress testing, echocardiography, holter monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and EKG testing. Additionally we provide inpatient and outpatient services at the local Lansing area hospitals, which include both non-invasive and invasive testing. These tests include cardiac catheterizations and cardiac intervention.

All of our cardiologists are board certified and provide quality care to patients and their families and serve as advocates for the patient’s health. The Cardiology Division caregiving team, its staff, nurses and clinical manager coordinate timely communication with the patient and referring physician. As team members, they pledge to make patient visits as comfortable as possible, which includes explaining everything to the patient regarding their condition, medications, and treatment.

In addition to giving high quality care to Mid-Michigan residents, the Cardiology Division also sponsors two fellowship programs, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiololgy. The three year fellowship program is accredited through A.C.G.M.E. (Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education). The Cardiology Division, with the help of many community physicians, train the fellows to specialize in cardiovascular disease. These fellows are dedicated to serving the needs of the patient and strive for excellence for the purpose of improving health.

The physicians in the Cardiology Division are also involved in medical research regarding cardiovascular disease. Many faculty members have written multiple abstracts, book chapters, books and journal articles on cardiovascular health and research. This continues to be an ongoing project for all academic physicians in the Cardiology Division.

Our mission is to educate, train and inspire students and physicians in the discipline of medicine. To provide quality, compassionate care for patients and their families and to attain research excellence for the purpose of improving the health of all.
